Saudi public holidays: Eid, Founding Day and National Day
- Two Eid holidays follow the Hijri calendar
- Founding Day is 22 February; National Day is 23 September
- Plan deadlines and shipments around holiday periods
Saudi Arabia has a small number of official holidays, and knowing them helps you plan projects, shipments and government procedures.
Eid al-Fitr
Marks the end of Ramadan. It is a time of prayer, family visits, new clothes and gifts for children.
Eid al-Adha
Takes place during the Hajj season and commemorates the Prophet Ibrahim's devotion. Families share meat with relatives and those in need.
Founding Day: 22 February
Celebrates the founding of the first Saudi state by Imam Muhammad bin Saud in Diriyah in 1727. Expect traditional dress, heritage events and celebrations across the country.
Saudi National Day: 23 September
Commemorates the unification of the Kingdom under King Abdulaziz in 1932. Cities fill with green flags, fireworks and national celebrations.
The Eid holidays depend on the sighting of the moon, so exact dates are confirmed shortly before. Build some flexibility into your plans.
